Topaz is a fire damage dealer on the path of the hunt. She is the latest five-star character in Hoyoverse’s turn-based gacha game, Honkai: Star Rail.
Looks like Apex Legends isn’t the only game with a brand-new character.
To use her full potential, here is the best build for Topaz and Numby.
Topaz’s Playstyle, Skill, and Ultimate
The character’s name is “Topaz and Numby” for a reason. While players control Topaz, such as ordering when she should use her skill and ultimate, Numby deals most of the damage. Numby has her place in the action order found at the upper left during battle. Numby’s attacks act as follow-up damage. To make the most out of it, it’s best to understand Topaz’s skill and ultimate.
For Topaz’s skill, the most important thing to note would be the mark Topaz applies to her enemies, which is called “proof of debt.” Numby will only attack enemies with the ‘proof of debt’ mark.
Players should note which enemies have the mark as it increases the damage of follow-up attacks.
“Inflicts a single target enemy with a Proof of Debt status, increasing the DMG it takes from follow-up attacks by 25%–55%.”
Topaz’s Skill
Additionally, if the marked enemies get hit by follow-up attacks, Numby’s action will move forward by 50 percent.
“When enemies afflicted with Proof of Debt receive an ally’s follow-up attacks, Numby’s action is Advanced Forward by 50%.”
Topaz’s Talent
Having another DPS is unnecessary, as Topaz’s basic attack and skill count as follow-up damage.
Lastly, Topaz’s ultimate gives huge buffs for herself.
“Numby enters the Windfall Bonanza! state and its DMG multiplier increases by 75%–165% and CRIT DMG increases by 12.5%–27.5%.”
Topaz’s Ultimate
Furthermore, the ultimate also acts as another speed buff for Numby. Due to this, it’s crucial for players never to use the skill and ultimate at the same time. They will lose a turn to advance Numby, thus losing DPS damage.
Topaz’s Best Lightcones
Name of the Lightcones | Effects |
Worrisome, Blissful (Best and signature lightcone) | Crit rate increases and gives crit damage to teammates. Increases damage to follow-up attacks. |
Cruising in the Stellar Sea (Best Free-to-Play) | High flat stats, increases crit rate and attack. |
Swordplay (Best four-star lightcone) | Increases damage up to 40% |
Only Silence Remains | Increases attack and crit rate to 12-24% depending on the number of enemies |
Topaz’s Best Relics and Ornaments
There is no perfectly optimized relic set for Topaz yet; thus, her sets are pretty flexible. Players would have to choose according to what sets they have and which ones have the best stats.
Her options are 4-pc Firesmith of Lava Forging, 4-pc Musketeer of Wild Wheat, or a hybrid build with the aforementioned sets. The set that’ll deal the most damage will be the 4-pc Firesmith, but the Musketeer set is more accessible as players can get it from almost everywhere in the game.
As for ornament sets, Topaz’s best-in-slot would be Inert Salsotto, but another easier option would be Space Sealing Station.
Here are the stats Topaz needs to deal as much damage as she can.
Relic/Ornament Piece | Best Main Stat |
Body Piece | Crit Damage>Rate |
Feet | Speed |
Sphere | Fire Damage |
Rope | Attack |
Lastly, the sub-stats Topaz needs are crit rate/damage, attack, and speed.
Topaz’s Team Synergies
Topaz’s main synergy lies with characters that have follow-up attacks as their main kit. This is because follow-up attacks from allies will make Numby attack faster. Additionally, Topaz’s kit makes enemies more vulnerable to follow-up attacks.
Due to this, one team composition for Topaz will be two follow-up attackers, a support, and a sustainer. Follow-up attackers could be Clara, Himeko, or Jingyuan. The main downside of this composition is it is expensive for players to build.
Another option would be the hyper-carry composition, where players would make Topaz the only damage dealer.
All in all, those are the important details players need to build Topaz. Hoyoverse has been busy recently. Other than Topaz, they also recently released Wriothesley for Genshin Impact. Additionally, Genshin was supposed to have their 4.2 livestream yesterday, but was canceled. Stay tuned for the latest gaming updates.
