The Anaheim Ducks lost to the Florida Panthers 2-1 Friday night, but the team thought they had tied the game mid-way through the third period.
However, the apparent goal didn’t count after a video review.
“I really don’t have anything to say,” Ducks head coach Greg Cronin said after the game. “I think anybody that watched the replay can form their own opinion.”

The play occurred on a wraparound by forward Jakob Silfverberg. Panthers goalie Anthony Stolarz stretched his left pad across the crease to make the save but the Ducks argued Stolarz’s pad was in the net, with the puck, and therefore a goal had been scored.
Officials on the ice indicated there was no goal before going to a review. In a statement after the fact, the NHL said “There was no conclusive video evidence to show that Silfverberg’s shot crossed the Florida goal line and thus, the call on the ice was upheld.”
After the game, Silfverberg said he thought the puck was in but that he trusts the NHL gets calls right.
“Initially as the play happened I kinda had a feeling in the back of my head that this one maybe snuck in there,” Silfverberg said. “Looking at the jumbotron I think we can all agree what we saw up there. But at the end of the day… you just got to trust that they’re making the right call out there and unfortunately it didn’t bounce our way this time.”
