Domino effects are very real and occur in sports and life, in general. In an episode of the Skweek Show by Tony Parker, Dwyane Wade admitted that he chose to join forces with LeBron James and Chris Bosh because Kobe Bryant was consistently winning.
“I know I cut my TV off as soon as Kobe ran and grabbed that ball. I was like, ‘LeBron, what you gonna do?’
That was our summer free agency. They were dominating. Kobe was winning all these rings, and we were like, “Hold on, he got five and we got one? So, yeah. That changed the league.”

The Miami Heat signed James and Bosh to join Wade in the summer of 2010, and everyone could see it was going to be a problem for the league. After all, James, Bosh, and Wade were all in the prime of their powers.
Bryant never made the NBA Finals again, while the Big 3 had four consecutive Finals appearances from 2011 to 2014. They ended up winning the championship in 2012 and 2013.
Was Wade Lying?
But here’s the thing: The Internet never forgets. When someone famous like Wade makes a bold statement, somebody out there is looking for the receipts.
On X/Twitter, a fan with the name “Coach James” called out Wade for blatantly lying. Of course, he had an old video as evidence. It was an interview where Wade told Kevin Garnett the Big 3 got together because of the Boston Celtics.
James also said the same thing in another interview.
So, which version is the truth? Well, both could be true. When Bryant’s Los Angeles Lakers were making it out of the West, the Celtics were the powers of the East. Theoretically speaking, they couldn’t get to Bryant if they can’t beat Boston.
But then again, fans couldn’t help but ask: What’s the real truth here?
