One of the Midwest’s top uncommitted recruits, four-star athlete Michael Boganowski, released a final four of Kansas, Kansas State, Florida State and Oklahoma on Monday afternoon, with a decision date set for Oct. 19.
The versatile athlete from Junction City (Kan.) caught up with Rivals to break down why each of his final schools made the cut with an announcement 10 days away.
Kansas State:
“They believed in me first and I can see myself doing very well in their scheme.”
Kansas:
“They are on the uprise. They’ve had a good start to the year and the whole staff has recruited me hard.”
Florida State:
“The (opportunity) to be coached by coach (Randy) Shannon who has helped develop great football players.”
Oklahoma:
“The opportunity to play for a guy like coach (Brent) Venables and the love that the whole staff has shown me .”
Oklahoma and Kansas State have long appeared to be in the driver’s seat for Boganowski’s pledge, and while I can’t count out any of his four finalists, this appears to be a battle between the Sooners and Wildcats.
Both Big 12 schools have much going in their favor and I’ve gone back and forth as to which of the lucky schools will ultimately receive the four-star’s pledge.
Kansas State is close to home and his recruiting coach, Steve Stanard, also recruited Boganowski’s dad to New Mexico State. Additionally, Boganowski has gone on record saying that if he were to make the first and easiest decision that his choice would be Kansas State.
Oklahoma on the other hand has always seemed to have some serious pull with Boganowsk and the turnaround in year two under Venables has been nothing short of spectacular. Boganowski has great relationships with the whole staff, loves the head coach and is a fan of how the Sooners would utilize him as a safety in their scheme. Additionally, the four-star seemed to be blown away by the atmosphere in Norman during a recent game day visit and that was before Saturday’s signature win over Texas.
This could go either way and I won’t be putting in a Futurecast, but the Sooners seem to have all of the momentum here and I now expect Boganowski to announce Oklahoma as his destination come Oct. 19.
