India vs Malaysia LIVE: Asian Champions Trophy LIVE – The Asian Champions Trophy 2023 is all set for the summit clash. Hosts India will look to lift the Asian Champions Trophy title for the first-time in front of the home crowd. The Harmanpreet Singh-led side takes on Malaysia in the final on Saturday, 12th August 2023. The high-voltage clash will get underway 8.30 PM IST.

With four successive wins, India enter the contest as the firm favourites. The indefatigable Men in Blue are eyeing their fourth Asian Champions Trophy title. The Harmanpreet Singh-led side sailed past Japan with a comprehensive 5-0 victory in the semifinal.
It was the same scoreline when India defeated Malaysia earlier in the tournament. However India will not take the upcoming contest too lightly as the Malaysians are also entering the contest on the back of three successive wins. “It is a must-win game against Malaysia. It is really important for us,” said Coach Craig Fulton on the importance of the upcoming clash between both the sides.
India have been relentless in the attack in the tournament. While the team scored majority of the goals off penalty corners, the team’s field goals stood out during their semifinal clash against Japan. Out of the 5 goals, only one came off the corner in that game. Also India had five different goal-scorers in the contest.
Craig Fulton would want his boys to continue the collective effort in the attack in the all-important final. India would also be wary of a good Malaysian defence. Especially their keeper Nafizuddin Othman had a terrific game in the semifinal as he was impressive with his saves and was adjudged the player of the match.
Malaysia meanwhile will be in action in the final at the Hockey Asian Champions Trophy for the first-ever time. The World No.9 Malaysia lost the semifinal five successive time in the tournament in the past.
The young team coached by Arul Antoni finally ended their jinx with a 6-2 demolition of defending champions South Korea in the semifinal on Friday. The Speedy Tigers lost their only match in the tournament against India and are eyeing a revenge.
Following their 0-5 defeat against India, Malaysia are on a three-match winning streak. The Marhan Jalil-led side defeated Japan 3-1 and South Korea 1-0 to finish second at the points table. In the semifinal, they completely dominated South Korea with a thumping 6-2 win.
Firhan Ashari, Faizal Saari, Shello Silverius, Abu Kamal Azrai, Najmi Jazlan have all been impressive in the attack for the Speedy Tigers. Overall the team scored 18 goals so far in the tournament. However the only team to maintain a clean-sheet against them in the tournament is India. Arul Antoni woukd want his boys to forget the result of their previous meeting against India and approach the upcoming match with confidence.
