After spending nearly two decades with the Green Bay Packers, superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers was traded to the New York Jets this NFL offseason in a move that shook the football world, as it immediately made the storied franchise a legitimate Super Bowl title contender.
Although Rodgers is coming off arguably the worst season of his NFL career, he’s still a player the Jets believe can take them to the next level and can help them compete for titles over the next few years.
Obviously, these kinds of moves don’t happen often in the NFL, nor do they happen much in the NBA when considering the age factor with Rodgers nearing 40.
However, that hasn’t stopped former NBA star Paul Pierce from trying to compare himself to Rodgers when it comes to trades late in their careers, as he compares the Boston Celtics trading him to the Brooklyn Nets to the Jets acquiring the superstar quarterback from the Packers, according to Showtime Basketball via Legion Hoops.

Ever since he retired from the NBA, Pierce has made it seem as though his career was much more than it was, as he’s even gone on to say he had a better career than Dwyane Wade, who won three titles and is arguably the third-greatest shooting guard of all time behind Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan.
That said, Pierce’s comments aren’t surprising, but they’re still a bit comical, with Rodgers nowhere near an NBA comparison for the former Celtics star.
For one, Rodgers is trying to contend for titles and does care if he succeeds, while Pierce was long past his prime and not considered to be on the same level when he landed in Brooklyn.
Nice try, Pierce.
