It has been an underwhelming start to the new season for both PSG and Lens, as neither have yet picked up a league win in 2023-24. However, both teams will have the opportunity to get off the mark for the new season with a success this weekend in Paris.
Ligue 1 Preview
Life under Luis Enrique hasn’t got off to the best of starts for PSG, as the reigning champions are still searching for their first league win of the season. The Parisians were held to a disappointing 0-0 draw by Lorient in their first home match of the season, and things didn’t really improve last weekend.
PSG opened the scoring against Toulouse on matchday two through Kylian Mbappe, but the hosts levelled the scores in the final three minutes. The second straight draw means that PSG will now be looking to avoid going their opening three matches to a season without a win since 2012-13. However, they have picked up just seven points from their last seven matches at the Parc des Princes.

It also hasn’t been an ideal start to the new season for Lens, as they look to build on an impressive campaign in 2022-23. Over the opening two weekends of the season, they have picked up just one point. They bounced back from an opening day defeat against Brest last weekend, as they played out a 1-1 home draw against Rennes.
Lens may only have one point in this current season, but no side in Ligue 1 have accumulated more points than the visitors in 2023. It would be a concern that they were beaten on the road in their previous match, but they haven’t lost back-to-back games on their travels since December 2021.
PSG vs Lens Head to Head
PSG boast a solid record in this fixture, as they have lost just two of their last 15 league matches against Lens. Over that period, they have recorded seven wins, with six ending in draws. However, each of their two losses have come while Franck Haise has been in the Lens dugout.
PSG vs Lens Prediction
Both French sides will be looking for an improved performance this weekend after a sticky start to the new campaign. We expect the hosts to claim maximum points, but we would be incredibly surprised if it is a high-scoring affair. Therefore, under 2.5 goals looks to be a solid bet.
